How to choose GitHub marketing skills for ads, SEO, and social content
GitHub marketing skills publish instructions for AI-assisted advertising, SEO, social media, and content work. Choose by the deliverable you need, the data you can supply, and the actions you intend to allow.
This guide compares public examples by purpose and provides checks and a trial prompt. To write your own, see how to create a marketing SKILL.md.
Public collections by purpose
The table reflects publishers' READMEs and relevant skill instructions. It is not a measured comparison of ad results or search rankings.
| Publisher | Described scope | Suggested first task |
|---|---|---|
| coreyhaines31/marketingskills | Ads, SEO audits, copywriting, and social skills | Review an existing article or advertising results |
| anthropics/knowledge-work-plugins: marketing | Content, campaigns, brand voice, competition, reporting | Prepare a draft or review it against brand language |
| marcosmodly/marketing-skill | SEO briefs, ad copy, repurposing, video preparation, publishing | Adapt an article into social drafts or prepare an SEO brief |
Anthropic describes its marketing plugin as primarily for Cowork, with Claude Code compatibility. The other two are community projects. Verify the publisher and package structure even when names resemble one another. Anthropic marketing README
Advertising: inspect data assumptions and change boundaries
Corey Haines' ads gathers goals, product, budget, and current conditions, then routes to supporting references. Its instructions also describe direct ad-account access. Verify what your own setup can actually retrieve. ads SKILL.md
Start with a review deliverable and inspect the evidence for proposed changes:
- Are reporting periods, currencies, and conversion definitions clear?
- Does it keep unavailable values separate from zero or failure?
- Does it distinguish general guidance from your margins and measurements?
- Can you inspect the target and change before budgets or delivery are altered?
Decide whether published budget splits and stopping guidance fit your margins, data volume, and conversion delay. Do not turn an overseas example into a setting for every account.
For creative evaluation, define the comparison with ad copy, image, and video hypothesis testing.
SEO: distinguish an audit from a writing brief
Inspecting an existing site's problems and preparing a new article outline require different deliverables.
| Deliverable | Public example | Material to supply |
|---|---|---|
| Site problems and verification tasks | Corey Haines' seo-audit |
Pages, business goals, measurements such as Search Console exports |
| A writer-ready article plan | marcosmodly's seo-brief |
Audience, query, existing articles, verified sources |
seo-audit instructions, seo-brief instructions
Read what the audit inspected and what remains unknown. Reading a public page does not establish that Search Console measurements were checked.
A brief needs an opening answer, outline, evidence, and a reason it differs from existing articles. Leave search volume unknown when no measured data is available. Use search results to check intent before choosing the article's role.
Social and production: inspect source material and publishing stages
Corey Haines' social asks about platform, purpose, audience, brand voice, and available resources. social instructions
Provide one published article and request a specific draft, such as a LinkedIn post or short X post. Check Japanese phrasing where relevant, source conditions, and the intended next action. Treat suggested posting frequency and style as hypotheses to test with your audience and operation.
marcosmodly's publish-pipeline includes packaging content for webhooks or platform APIs. Connections and execution boundaries require separate checks from drafting. Publishing instructions
A drafting trial does not need to run the publishing stage. After text review, consider assets and distribution. Choose production tools with the AI ad image guide and AI video ad guide.
Files to inspect before installation
Read the actual instructions and their dependencies as well as the promotional description.
| File | What to check |
|---|---|
| README and LICENSE | Publisher, supported environment, installation, use and modification conditions |
| SKILL.md | Trigger, inputs, deliverables, external actions |
| References | Applicable conditions, old specifications, evidence for thresholds |
| Scripts and connection configuration | Execution, destinations, required data and credentials |
Record the version or commit you use and inspect changes before updating. A recent update date does not prove that every advertising specification in the instructions is current.

A trial prompt for your own materials
Compare the candidate against your existing method using the same inputs. This prompt is a suggested trial.
Use the selected skill to prepare this deliverable.
Task and desired deliverable:
Audience, product, and sales conditions:
Permitted sources and measured data:
Reporting period and conversion definition:
Our terminology and writing style:
Existing content and desired changes:
Separate verified facts, proposals, and unresolved points.
Do not guess unavailable information.
Prepare work for review; do not publish, send, or change ads.
Show the sources used and what needs checking.
Compare preparation, fact-checking, correction, and finishing effort. More output matters less than whether the work is easy to review and useful for the next task.
